Guess not, and I know it could be bad luck- but where else do I have to complain about Apple and who is going to care ?īTW- the displays on the TV work just fine with either extended or mirroring and I was able to easily go into the sound profile and send the sound through the TV and speaker system rather than the laptop.Īnother note- someone in another forum mentioned that buying cable that is HDMI male to mini display worked for him too- so eliminating the adapter connection may also be something to try. Since they don't make their own adapter I assumed that going through the apple store and buying a "recommended" product would save me some grief. In System Preferences, click on Displays. also, while HDMI does support sound, it will not in this. works like a charm, OS X even gets the 1360x760 resolution right. Pick up a mini-dvi to dvi adapter from apple (20 CAN), and a dvi to hdmi cable (i found one at futureshop for 30). Change the TV on the corresponding HDMI input (i.e., HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.) Go to the Apple menu on the upper left of your computer screen and click on System Preferences. hey, I have a similar setup with my 20' AL iMac and 27' samsung LCD HDTV.
While the griffin unit may just be defective- I'm frustrated with Apple and all of their incompatibility and proprietary issues. Plug the HDMI cord into your MacBook Pro (using an adapter if needed) and the other end into your TV. So using a gigaware mini display port worked with both projector and TV and two different HDMI cables (one radioshack- no ethernet and the one that came with the TV is HDMI/ethernet). So this all cost me 8 hours I will never get back ! Voila- the Griffin mini display port- purchased through the Apple store is either incompatible or defective. I incidentally was setting up a new Epson projector (1761W) with the MBP at the same time and found that the connection with the same cable and same adapter was equally non functional.Īfter hours of frustration and getting on the horn with the Epson support I ended up trying a new cable and new adapter.
My husband's 2009 or 2010 MBP did the same thing 'cept the screen was a dull charcoal black versus a soothing sky blue. My original issue was the the TV and the MBP were not recognizing each other- making it impossible to work with display settings on either device- the screen would go blue for a second and then the laptop would come back on and remain utterly non-responsive to the TV. Most high-definition TVs use an HDMI port, which transmits high-speed digital video and sound. Thanks for all the help- I'll share this in the hopes it saves someone some time and all the frustration I went through ! Examine the TV to see what type of video cable you need for it. Also make sure the Fios box is set to a fixed resolution like 2160 or 1080I in the video output settings.I posted this elsewhere in the forum but thought I would post here too- thanks for the help. If that is no help, try disabling TV input control in the Fios box menu. The time of day thing is strange, but I'd try swapping HDMI cables for the Fios box with one of the others to see if that's the problem. Could there be an issue with the time between on and off that I’m missing ? Once I go through connection guide everything works fine.Īny suggestions anyone has would be great
Or if you’re wondering how to connect your gaming devices to the TV, it’s the same thing.
or USB-C to HDMI Cables you use, you cannot stream things to TV from Samsung. On the Fios box, I have enabled the tv input control and have none under auto power off. Here’s how to connect your DVD player to the TV (or Blu-ray) plug in its HDMI cable to the One Connect Box. Others (No sound from tv, feels hot to touch, cut Wifi signal, not hdr.
Why would i have no problems almost every morning and problems almost every evening ? Everything else works fine when I turn receiver on for surround sound or using apps. Here is setup with Samsung QN 75, Fios set top box, Samsung sound bar and yamaha TSR 5830 receiver. Situation where I have my tv, cable box and sound bar come on together and almost every morning it works but in the evening the tv won’t pick up cable box and I have to go through hdmi connection guide and it always then works.
